Four boys from the Umhlali Country Club Junior Development Academy tee'd off alongside amateur golfers from all over the world to compete in the Sven Tumba Classic at the 20th commemorative World Golfers Championship (WGC) in KwaZulu-Natal.
Four young aspirant golfers treated like pros

At the invitation of World Golf Events South Africa (the event owners and organisers of WGC in SA) Thabiso Magwaza, Sphamandla Luthuli, Sifiso Masikane and Patrick Bhenxa experienced an exciting two-day 'pro-golfer tour like experience" of championship golf courses, 4-star hotel accommodation and a Gala Dinner Awards Ceremony.

The boys, all aged 17 and playing off handicaps ranging from eight to12, played their hearts out to make their debut international tournament their best golf ever. Their exposure to international golfers ended on a high note at the Closing Awards Gala Dinner when the team from the Caribbean Islands donated their entire collection of golf prizes to the boys. They went home with 12 state-of-the-art Taylormade golf clubs and a large supply of Taylormade golf balls.

Toy Mzimela, a Director of World Golf Events South Africa, said, "This year we decided to extend an invitation to four boys to experience playing in a world golfing event where they could feel the exhilaration and excitement of competing against golfers from all over the world. It is our hope that this opportunity will open future doors for these talented young boys and will be a stepping stone towards further developing their talents and golfing careers."
