Club Travel sponsors team at Relay for Life

Club Travel has raised R5,000 during the CANSA Relay For Life which took place in Paarl on Saturday, 22 February. The company sponsored Team Pathfinders, who raised R5 per lap they completed during the relay with Club Travel matching the contribution for each team member who completed their laps.

CANSA Relay For Life is the largest cancer engagement and fund raising activity in the world. It is a fun, overnight event, which consists of teams of friends, neighbours, families or co-workers who volunteer to take turns to walk around a track for 18-24 hours. The goal is to have at least one member on the track at all times.

Lap of honour

The event serves to celebrate and unite cancer survivors, their caregivers and communities who support them and encourages teams to raise funds in support of the fight against cancer in the region where the relay is held. A survivors 'lap of honour' opened the event, honouring cancer survivors and their caregivers and after sunset a Luminaria candlelight ceremony was held to remind people why they joined the event. Candles were lit inside Luminaria bags to pay tribute to those who have lost their battle, those who are battling cancer, and those who have won their struggle against cancer.

"At Club Travel we support numerous CSI events and the CANSA organisation is very close to our hearts. The Relay for Life event is an opportunity for us to show that we care by supporting survivors and their loved ones in the fight against cancer," said Club Travel marketing manager, Luana Visagie.
