Cyclists invited to support FTFA

The Spin-2-Zero Team for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge aims to spread eco-awareness while decreasing carbon footprints. Food & Trees for Africa (FTFA) is calling all cyclists to join the team for the Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge. This challenge takes place on Sunday, 17 November 2013 in Johannesburg, and those riding for the team will benefit from an earlier starting time.
Cyclists invited to support FTFA

As part of the Spin-2-Zero team, cyclists will be helping FTFA plant trees in poor communities across South Africa. Trees are essential in our lives since they provide oxygen and food, shade and shelter, as well as contributing to more beautiful and peaceful environments. Many communities in South Africa do not have trees and thus cannot enjoy their many benefits. FTFA is on a mission to spread the value and gift of trees into these communities, and the Spin-2-Zero is one way to do this.

In addition, the cyclist who helps to build the FTFA team by signing up the most riders, and the cyclist who raises the most money for trees, will win a return ticket to Cape Town, thanks to kulula.com.

How to enter

Each cyclist will need to raise or donate R500. They will receive a cycle shirt, a biodegradable water bottle and a personlised certificate acknowledging a tree planted to offset their ride. The funds raised will go towards planting more trees in communities that really need them. Cyclists are required to register for the Momentum Cycle Challenge and enter Food & Trees for Africa under the 'Ride for a Purpose' category to begin fund-raising before 30 September.

FTFA is South Africa's greening organisation that has planted over 4.2 million trees but receives requests from disadvantaged schools and communities for many millions more. FTFA's work alleviates poverty and contributes to food security and healthier environments whilst addressing climate change and spreading education and awareness.
