SAA wins awards
Spokesman Tlali Tlali said the airline was honoured by the accolade for being "the most on-time airline in the world" and "best business class product".
"It won the Most On-Time Airline in the World award from FlightStats Inc, a global flight and airport information services provider," Tlali said in a statement.
According to the report SAA beat Gulf Air, delivering 92.26% of its flights on time in March. Gulf Air managed 92.11%.
Other major international flights had delivered, on average, 78.76% of their flights to the arrival gate within 15 minutes of schedule.
It was also given the Best Business Class Award among Star Alliance carriers presented by FVW, a German travel trade magazine.
The magazine based its decision on a mystery shopper project that it ran.
"SAA topped the list with 94 points out of 100, beating three other European airlines," Tlali said.
"Every South African should be proud of the fact that the national carrier is Africa's most awarded airline and held in high esteem by travellers across the world," Zuks Ramasia, general manager of operations said.
