R320 million approved for DBSA funding

Business Report says the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) received 2651 applications during the first funding period in terms of the newly created Jobs Fund and has approved projects worth R320 million for grant funding.

The R9 billion Jobs Fund, according to the Business Report article, is expected to create about 115 226 sustainable jobs. The fund is managed by the DBSA, which says it expects to dispense about R2 billion on various projects during its 2011/12 financial year. However, the DBSA has said that just because a project is likely to create jobs, this does not mean it will be approved, as there are other criteria that must be met as well.
