Campus Radio making waves

Campus Radio returned to the traditional airwaves this week, following its recent commencement on streaming audio. The community radio station has been awarded a temporary events license and will be occupying the frequency 92.7fm up until 4 November 2005.

Station Manager, Stephan Potgieter, says: "We have applied three times and succeeded three times. We are showing the community what we are made of. We are growing stronger, faster - quicker than anticipated."

During this period the station will be endorsing Drug and AIDS Awareness, as well as various community events such as the SPAR marathon - women's challenge.

There should be clarity on the issue surrounding the permanent license by the end of October.

The station will also soon be going under the name of UJFM. This is to accommodate the name change of the university. The official launch date of the new name is still to be announced.
