Two Gagasi 99.5 personalities shine at the MTN Radio Awards

Gagasi 99.5 won two awards in this year's MTN Radio awards held at Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday night. Dr. Eve's feature on Vusi Letsoalo's show won the Best Night Time Show while Content Producer Sma Mbatha won the Young Achiever Award.

As a Content Producer Sma is responsible for the conceptualising and production of content which involves briefing presenters on the execution of content on-air.

"This is the biggest highlight of my career so far; it meant a lot to me to be honored as a Young Achiever in a room full of radio legends and the industry as a whole," said Sma.

She continues to say, "This has inspired me to continue work hard and to aim for greater heights in this industry."

Vusi's Dr. Eve show, a syndicated feature with Gagasi 99.5's Cape Town based sister station Heart 104.9FM, discusses sex-related issues every Wednesday night between 20:00 and 21:00. Dr. Eve is an internationally accredited Couple & Sex Therapist and the show has been well received by listeners across KZN as it addresses real sexual issues that they face in their real lives.

"I have had many great moments in my years of experience on radio but this is certainly one of the greatest moments of them all," said Vusi.

"I'd like to thank the whole team that I'm working with especially Dr. Eve for all her expertise that has contributed in making the show the success that it is as well as our sister station Heart 104.9FM," said Vusi.

Gagasi 99.5 Managing Director Chris Meyiwa attributed the achievement to the hard work that the team has been putting on their work. "This demonstrates the team's hard work and dedication to their work and to us as a station this is a big milestone. Radio has become so competitive in the country and I'd like to take my hat off to Vusi and Sma for putting the station in the map," said Chris.

Chris also said the station plans to go all out with entries for next year's awards. "After attending the awards ceremony we realized the whole lot of categories that we will aim for next year," concluding Chris.
