New Year, new energy and new line-up for East Coast Radio
Whilst East Coast Radio bids farewell to the popular Darren Scott, the line-up changes offer a fresh sound and even some new additions. Darren Scott has had a successful run of just over four years with the station, where he shared many special moments with his loyal listeners. From his famous parody songs to his daily Dees Sleaze feature and friendly banter with the rest of the afternoon drive team, he showcased his love and professionalism for good radio. Darren's quick wit and wicked sense of humour made him a leader in the field. East Coast Radio Programming Manager Naveen Singh said that East Coast Radio was sad to say goodbye to such a talented individual. "Darren has made an immense contribution to radio during his time with us. We wish him well in all that he sets out to do."
Taking over the reigns between 3pm and 6pm weekdays is the charming, boy next door, Damon Beard. Damon's heart of gold has captured listeners across KZN and he will continue to bring listeners exactly what they want to hear, in his new show. "I am over the moon to be taking over the drive time show! It will allow me to bring fresh ideas and new features to our listeners. I am looking forward to taking on the new year in true Damon style," said an elated Beard.
And while Damon gets you through your afternoon journey home, the charismatic Makhosi Khosa will ease you through your work day between 12pm and 3pm weekdays. With his relaxed manner and unusual observational humour, Makhosi will get your through the work day with laughter, great prizes and of course your favourite music from the 80s, 90s and today.
Weekends are also bound to be infused with a whole lot of new energy with Ian Fraser, better known as IanF, joining East Coast Radio on the Weekend Breakfast every Saturday and Sunday morning, 6am to 10am on East Coast Radio as of 1 Jan 2011. Speaking on his new appointment to the Weekend Breakfast slot on ECR, Fraser said "I have always enjoyed listening to East Coast Radio and now to be a part of it is VERY exciting! I am thoroughly thrilled at the opportunity to wake people up on Saturday & Sunday mornings and hope that they embrace the positive energy that will be coming their way!"
