Time to Toy Toy again

It's time to Toy Toy again with Good Hope FM's Nigel Pierce as he mounts his tricycle and heads off in search of toys and donations for underprivileged children throughout November 2007.

With the campaign having raised over R600 000 and 500 crates of toys last year, Pierce is hoping the city will once again open its heart and bring immense Christmas cheer to the children across the peninsula with Good Hope FM's and Nigel Pierce's Toy Toy in association with Engen.

“I was absolutely overwhelmed by the response of our listeners last year and when you see the reaction of the children who get the toys you realise just how important this campaign is… One small toy brings unbelievable joy.”

Throughout November, the Good Hope FM breakfast team (Nigel Pierce, JP Naudé [sport] and Sandra Rosenberg [news]) will broadcast from different companies every weekday 6am – 9am, encouraging employees to bring toys to work or make a cash donation.

For members of the public wanting to participate, they may drop off toys at the SABC studios in the foyer at 209 Beach Road, Sea Point, Cape Town.

Meegan Kieffer, marketing manager of Good Hope FM, fully supports the campaign: “You get a real sense of the spirit of Cape Town and its people, and to see how they come together, knowing that they are helping a child with a gift or generously giving money to place food on their tables, which is reward in itself.”

This year the Toy Toy will be visiting the following companies: SABC Johannesburg; Vodacom (Johannesburg); Cell C; Independent Newspapers; Pick 'n Pay; Standard Bank; Airports Company SA (ACSA): Shoprite Checkers; Woolworths; Dischem; Standard Bank; Ajax Cape Town and sponsors; FNB; Old Mutual; BP South Africa; Vodacom (Cape Town); Engen South Africa; Media24 and Foschini Group.
