Petrol price to go up by 17 cents

Motorists will have to dig deeper into their pockets as petrol is set to increase by 17 cents, the Energy Department said on Friday, 29 July 2011.

All grades of petrol will rise by 17 cents per litre. The prices will come into effect on Wednesday, 3 August.

Inland, a litre of petrol will cost R10.09 from R9.92. In the coast, a litre of petrol will cost R9.79 from R9.62.

The price of diesel 0.05% sulphur and diesel 0.005% sulphur will each increase by 15 cents a litre.

The price of wholesale illuminating paraffin will go up by 10 cents and that of illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will rise by 13 cents.

The maximum retail price for LPGAS will increase by 38 cents per kilogram.

"During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased," said the Energy department.
