Siemens gets largest-ever PRASA signalling contract

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has tasked Siemens with the supply of signaling equipment and the construction of a Gauteng-based operations control centre. At almost 90 million euros, this is the largest signaling equipment contract ever awarded in South Africa.

The contract includes electronic interlocking work for the railway network in Gauteng, including the Johannesburg Park Station, one of the busiest railway stations in all of Africa. The entire project is due to be completed by 2016.
