Interior decorator Tracy Mills commented: "We've let the lodges guide us, refreshing and renewing each one according to its own individual style and character using interesting, locally sourced accessories. Throughout all of them the focus has been on adding an extra layer of deep comfort that says luxury every time you sink into a gorgeous sofa or stretch out on a beautiful bed."
Eagles Crag Lodge has a new decor element in the TV lounge and foyer, and throughout the rooms a soft refurbishment with new bed linen, cushions and LED lights have also been installed on the top level, public area including in the shop, the top lounge area and the dining room and the wooden pathway through the lodge has also seen repairs and been re-varnished.
At Riverdene Lodge the teen chill-out area located in an undercover outside area has been completely redone to create an epic chill out space for children. The two lounges at Riverdene have been redecorated and small decorative touches have enhanced the dining room. LED lights have been fitted throughout. The lodge itself has been repainted in a "bush green", to replace the previous yellow, so the lodge blends in with the environment. The boma deck also received a makeover and new furniture is soon to be added to complete the picture.
Sarili Lodge's deck now boasts new luxurious couches and vibrant red accessories that brighten up the entire area.
At Longlee Manor, improvements on comfort and easy access have been completed to a particular room for those who may have physical challenges. This room is ideal for guests requiring assistance in a wheelchair as the bathroom has been enlarged as well as the shower area and doorways to assist with manoeuvrability. A double sink has been installed, which is set at an appropriate height for guests in wheelchairs.
As part of a "green drive", energy-efficient lighting has been installed in the upgraded rooms and suites and some public areas. Certain pieces of what would be considered antique or vintage furniture has been recovered and restored to project the heritage. The Longlee Manor gardens, which have become a favourite with guests, have also been meticulously manicured, reshaped and styled during the renovations. Flat-screen TVs are found in all rooms.
The barn has been redecorated and now boasts a cosy lounge area created in front of the large fireplace. The dining room and entrance to the Manor House have also received a decor and furniture facelift and again LED lights have been installed.
In the staff accommodation, a heat pump has been installed to test efficiency and hopefully this energy-effective method of generating heat could one day find its way to all guest areas. Many of the pieces of furniture, towels and linen that were replaced were donated to local orphanages in the immediate area, again part of the green drive to recycle and reuse. Many of the team members also chose to purchase pieces at a minimal cost.
