“The refurbishment is already underway with an initial R8m spent last year and a further R62m allocated over the next four years. We believe that this investment will further cement La Montagne as a first-choice destination for holidaymakers seeking the ultimate experience in luxurious accommodation with top-notch amenities and family entertainment,” said Tim Spencer, hotel director for First Group.
From the moment guests arrive they will begin to experience the transformation. A remodelled and enlarged Porte Cochère and a refurbished reception area will provide an improved check-in experience. Plus, an exciting brand-new retail facility with upmarket local and imported merchandise means guests will be able to purchase a special memento of their vacation.
All 118 luxury terraced apartments are being completely revamped to create a beautiful modern ambiance that flows from room to room. The tranquil sound of the ocean has been enhanced with new sliding patio doors designed to capitalise on the breath-taking views and maximise space within. Stylish furniture and chic décor finishes with seaside-themed paintings complete the luxurious look and feel, while beautiful vinyl wooden flooring, downlighters and recessed LED lighting add a serene ambiance. Among the new and improved amenities is the refurbished air-conditioning systems that will be semi-ducted and concealed to bring a discreet freshness to the warm summer holidays.
State-of-the-art technology finishes include the addition of USB ports to all wall sockets for convenient charging of electronic devices. With the high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity that is accessible throughout the entire building complex, guests won’t miss an opportunity to share their holiday memories on social media or stay in touch with family and friends back home.
La Montagne boasts a heritage that dates back 45 years when it was originally developed as an all-suite hotel. In 1984 the property was converted to a timeshare resort with a hotel component and has since flourished into a sought-after holiday destination.
“This refurbishment marks a new chapter for La Montagne, which we are very excited about. The resort has a longstanding reputation of delivering quality vacations that families look forward to each year, and this project will ensure that La Montagne continues to stand out as the choice destination on the KZN north coast,” concluded Spencer.
During the renovation period, guests will still be able to enjoy the many amenities that La Montagne has to offer, which include restaurants with a wide variety of cuisine and room service, squash courts, large swimming pool, magnificent seaside sundeck, wedding and conference facilities and a daily entertainment programme for the whole family.
