The computer will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Quoting Acer chief executive JT Wang, News24 says that this is the first of at least four new models that will be launched later this year. The new range of ultrabooks will be powered by Windows 8 and available once the new software from Microsoft is available.
The Acer Aspire S5 is the first viable Windows equivalent of the MacBook Air built by Apple.
