The fundraiser will allow the public to participate in 67 minutes on Mandela Day, without leaving their school or work premises, by donating to FFL projects. Participants will be asked to supply duct tape and sell a piece of duct tape, in their workplace or school, for R6.70, R67, R670 or R6700. The aim is to sell enough tape in the 67 minutes to have the volunteer (preferably someone in management; head prefect or sports person) stuck to a wall without any physical support. The volunteer will begin by standing on a chair until enough pieces of tape are bought to support them, the chair will then be removed and they will only be supported by the tape stuck to them.
This initiative is not only unique but also a great analogy for the work done by FFL in Venda:
When there is enough tape (help) stuck to the volunteer (Venda community) it acts as a support and the chair (FFL and the donor) can be removed, therefore making the Venda community sustainable and able to be self-supporting. All funds raised will be used to uplift the Early Childhood Development Centres in Venda.
