Santa Shoebox Project reaches out to rural children

The Santa Shoebox Project has been collecting Christmas gifts for underprivileged children since 2006. This year, South Africans will once again have the opportunity to pack a box and pledge their support.
Santa Shoebox Project reaches out to rural children

In 2012 the Santa Shoebox Project reached its incredible goal of 100,000 boxes, distributed at over 1000 orphanages, creches and care centres around the country, and aims to do it again this year. In line with this year's theme, 'Reaching the rural child', it will focus on increasing support to care-giving homes in small towns and farming communities all over South Africa who are in desperate need of assistance. This year they hope to take on board many more orphanages in all areas, and to allocate a percentage of Santa Shoeboxes collected in bigger cities, to facilities in the rural areas.

To participate in this heart-warming project, simply register online at www.santashoebox.co.za, from 1 September 2013, where an easy step-by-step procedure will guide you through the process.

The gift-wrapped Santa Shoeboxes need to be dropped off at central distribution points across the country on designated dates in October (details and directions provided on the website).
