Rock legend launches at AVA Expo

This year's AVA Expo, taking place from 29 October - 1 November 2009 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, will see the South African launch of the world-famous Schecter guitar.

Importers and distributors of musical instruments for the past five years, The New Black acquired the Schecter dealership earlier this year, adding to their stable which includes Dean guitars, Luna guitars and Krank amplifiers.

Founded in 1976 in the US by David Schecter and originally producing only replacement parts for existing guitars from manufacturers such as Fender and Gibson, Schecter today mass-produces its own line of guitars. It is considered one of the top brands in rock.

“The Schecter brand has a proud tradition in the music industry worldwide and we are proud to bring this to a new generation of South African musicians,” says Tracy Gruar, exhibition director of the AVA Expo. “Of course, we anticipate that many established local artists will be excited to play similar instruments to those played by music's greats.”
