The revenue service said the counterfeit goods were discovered in 10 bags and three boxes on Thursday, with three passengers, from Hong Kong via Nairobi flight, linked to the incident.

The 10 bags and three boxes were filled with designer wrist watches, footwear and tracksuits.

“They have since been handed over to the counterfeit team and brand holder attorneys,” said SARS.

In addition, on Sunday two passengers who had swallowed 49 cocaine bullets were intercepted on a flight from Sao Paolo to Johannesburg.

The cocaine bullets estimated at R235,914 weighed 0.820kg.

“The two passengers were identified as drug mules and taken for X-ray that revealed foreign objects in their abdomen while the third was found with marks of a body wrap,” said SARS, adding that the passengers were handed over to the South African Police for further investigation.
