Vindaba: Year one of a new tourism exhibition concept

Wine and gourmet tourism is a trending travel category worldwide, but per capita spend is unevenly distributed amongst wine-growing regions. Napa Valley in California, for example, earns USD188 a head whereas the Western Cape is currently earning USD41 per head. This huge potential for growth must be unlocked for the greater benefit of our wine and tourism industries as well as the communities they support.

With the backing of national and provincial government, Vindaba will be showcasing the best in South African wine-related tourism, targeting the local and international travel trade, as well as wine, travel and lifestyle media.

New spirit of collaboration amongst tourism bodies

Held at the CTICC between 25 to 27 September, Vindaba marks a new spirit of collaboration amongst tourism bodies and will form part of a long-term strategy to boost wine tourism, representing as it does a partnership between Wines of South Africa (WOSA), SA Tourism and Cape Town Tourism, as well as the SA Wine Routes Forum and WESGRO.

With international hosted buyers and media, free flow access to Cape Wine, reusable stands that become the property of exhibitors at the end of the show, a public open day and jam-packed itinerary-based tours for buyers after the event, it's no surprise that we have seen such a wide range of exhibitors expressing an interest in Vindaba. With South Africa's wine tourism highlights including boutique hotels, culinary and gastronomic discoveries, outdoor adventure, game farms, great shopping and a host of cultural sites and activities, to name but a few, visitors to Vindaba will place its exhibitors firmly on the world map of wine tourism.

The Vindaba team welcomes all travel trade and media to register for free accreditation to the show at www.vindaba.com.
