Foreign direct investment drops in SA

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in South Africa dropped by 70% last year according to the World Investment Report 2011 released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, reports IOL. The FDI inflow was $1,5-billion last year compared with almost $5,4-billion in 2009.

South Africa is currently ranked in the 10th spot in terms of FDI in Africa and secured just 2,8% of the total investment in Africa in 2010. Angola, Egypt and Nigeria topped the FDI list in 2010.
