The results of the ANA are used by the DBE to facilitate better learning at schools and highlight areas where further intervention is required.

"This year, we have partnered with government to address the low levels of literacy and numeracy in primary school children by piloting a programme within targeted primary schools across South Africa to provide foundation phase teacher/learner aids that are curriculum aligned."
The toolkit consists of a set of eight engaging posters designed to ensure the children are absorbed in the education session as the posters make use of the mascot Lerato. The posters are aligned to key learning themes and provide the learners with an understanding of the basics they need to get a kick-start to a successful future. Liberty is also providing learning and teaching aids in the form of CAPS-aligned workbooks that teachers can use to interactively engage learners. Liberty has identified 20 primary schools across South Africa who will receive the learning aids.
"Our philosophy is to invest in real and measurable community development, specifically within the education space. Through this exciting new initiative we are able to provide young learners with the tools they need to improve themselves while also ensuring the teachers have the tools they need to assist their learners," Bacela explains.
