Darren Hayes-Powell appointed MD of Goodyear SA
Darren Hayes-Powell will be taking over the reins from Jean-Jacques Wiroth as managing director of Goodyear South Africa. Wiroth will continue in his role until the end of October 2017, facilitating the transition and onboarding process of Hayes-Powell, who will be commencing his duties in South Africa in November.
Wiroth will be embarking on a new assignment at Goodyear in Europe.
In his term in the South Africa and sub-Saharan operations, Wiroth has been instrumental in driving positive growth in the company. He was responsible for securing, overseeing, and implementing the largest investment the Uitenhage plant has received to date.
"I am confident that this is the right time for me to exit the Goodyear South Africa operations as it is well equipped with the necessary tools to continue as a key player in the market. My successor, Darren Hayes-Powell, brings a wealth of experience to the region. He has served in key roles of increasing responsibility at the country, regional and corporate levels and I believe he will be a key member in accelerating the implementation of our local, regional and global strategic goals and take the company even further," said Wiroth.
Hayes-Powell joined Goodyear in 2008 and is currently the vice president finance global operations.
