SANAA celebrates African culture

SANAA Africa is a three-day long African cultural festival, endorsed by the City of Joburg as the official Africa Day Celebration. In its third year, the festival promises a bolder and more exciting programme from Friday, 27 May to Sunday, 29 May 2012.

SANAA is a Swahili word that means "To Create from Your Heritage". The idea behind the festival is to create an event that exposes a cross section of the vastly multicultural creative talents of Africa ranging from visual art, craft, dance, song, storytelling, film and other cultural offerings available in the market place.

An all-encompassing event, SANAA explores the rich African heritage from a contemporary perspective and pays tribute to our continent's eclectically talented creative legacy. It's a veritable feast for the ears, eyes and soul. In the spirit of celebration, Africa's most talented performers and artists will take to Shine Studio for a vibrant carnival, and for three unforgettable days Africa will unite in all its rhythmic, passionate, spectacular beauty.
