The catchy song, High Maintenance, was composed by Ramblin' Jay Bones (member of the band Fuzigish), with additional lyrics and vocals contributed by FHM's music editor, Gordon Laws. South African actress and singer Khanyi Mbau also donated her services for a cameo guest slot on the single.
Doing an FHM song was something that the team wanted to do for many years. At one stage it was considered doing a song with Tanya van Graan, then with Joelle Kayembe, and even Kerry McGregor.
The song is written from a boyfriend's perspective about an awesome girlfriend, but she is also an expensive partner - although it is all worth it in the end.
