Diversity amazes audience at Chinese Embassy

The operatic-fusion quartet, Diversity, have already won over legions of fans in China with their show-stopping performance in Beijing at the Chaoyang Pop Music Festival earlier this year. The talented foursome also graced the stage at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Pretoria recently.

The embassy hosted an event for Chinese and South African officials on the day and its chosen theme was China and Africa: From Past to Present. Fitting to their name, Diversity were top of mind when the embassy was tasked with choosing a group that engenders a fusion of cultures and of music to entertain attendees on the day.

Diversity has the uncanny ability to fuse opera with hip-hop, kwaito, beat-boxing and a variety of other musical styles to create something entirely new and undeniably South African.

"This fusion element is central to what we had in mind when we created the Diversity project," said Yudi Cohen, CEO of Glasscopy Productions, the production company behind this triumph of musical fusion. "Our main goal is to promote a positive South Africa and to unite its audiences of diverse cultures through music - the common language of humanity. As such, we are honoured to share in this day with dignitaries at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China."
