Presented by non-profit organisation Seboka Training and Support Network, with support from the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, the musical is aimed at youth audiences, who can come to see it for free in various venues. Dance, drama and theatre management workshops are also being held.

"We have been overwhelmed by the positive response we've had to African Dream so far," said Dr Lisky Nombe, the CEO of Seboka Training and Support Network. "Young people are really responding to its positive, uplifting message and are connecting with the vibrant music, action and drama of the piece."

Travelling to Port Elizabeth

The musical will soon be travelling to Port Elizabeth, where free performances will take place at the War Memorial Hall from 19 to 22 May 2010, with workshops being held on 21 and 22 May.

Next up is Grahamstown, where the Noluthando Hall will host it from 26 to 29 May, and workshops on 29 and 30 May.

The roadshow wraps up with performances at the Mdantsane Sun in East London from 2 to 5 June, and workshops on 5 and 6 June - where 2010 World Cup excitement is expected to reach fever pitch in the week before kick-off.

Written and directed by Johnny Loate, with musical direction by Prince Lengoasa, African Dream tells the story of South Africa's road to hosting the 2010 World Cup.

Evocative poetry, narration, music and dance

Using evocative poetry, narration, music and dance, the large cast takes the audience on an entertaining journey, from the crushing blow of losing the 2006 bid to the elation of winning the right to host the 2010 event on behalf of Africa.

With branches around the country, Pretoria-based Seboka is committed to improving access for the poor and indigent to health-care services. The non-profit developmental organisation strives to strengthen the community response to HIV/AIDS, and other diseases, through partnerships with government as well as targeted education and empowerment projects.

Entrance to each performance of African Dream is free. The shows start at 6pm and workshops are at 9am. Contact Buz Publicity's offices at +27 (0) 11 482 3489/3467 for more details.
