Fundraising evening for The Beauty of Incomplete Things
The sneak preview of the reworking of The Beauty of Incomplete Things, which took place at The Intimate Theatre in January 2014, shows what happens when a jealous lover confronts his lover and straight toy boy in a secluded cabin in the middle of the woods.
Following the world premiere of The Beauty of Incomplete Things in Cape Town in January 2014, the play is now touring to Johannesburg in July 2014 (go to www.joburgtheatre.com).
Produced independently by The Writing Studio and working on a profit-share basis between the actors and writer-director Daniel Dercksen, the project had been in development for 10 years and has now been reworked for the Joburg Season, taking the play to its extreme (www.writingstudio.co.za).
A provocative and intimate journey
In The Beauty of Incomplete Things, Steve (Andre Lombard) surprises his boyfriend David (Wojtek Lipinski), a flamboyant and dramatic diva worshipper, and toy boy Tommy (Rowan Studti), a straight masseur, at their secretive hideaway.
It's a provocative and intimate journey into the hearts and souls of three befuddled men trying to redeem themselves through a final confession. Possessive love, obsessive fantasy and tainted passion clash head-on in an alluring emotional journey of love, wrath and redemption, where three rivals discover that there lies beauty in incomplete things.
