Winners of Foschini Fashion Design Awards
They are Sheila-Madge Bakker, Frances Buchner and Sabrina Linder.
The panel of judges selected the three winners based on their final entries: a cohesive collection of three ready-to-wear outfits inspired by the same time period as their exhibition outfit (Baroque or 1920s) and styled with shoes and accessories purchased with a branded gift card. Each received an internship, the sale of a capsule collection in selected stores, a title and a R5000 gift card.
They will spend the first two weeks of their internship at TFG Design, where its designers will mentor them. They will be exposed to one of the best retail design environments in the country, as the design centre reportedly manufactures a wider range of product than any other supplier in the country does.
Here, they will create their capsule collection based on the brief given to them, drawing from their exposure to the various design disciplines at the centre. The winners will then spend a week at the head office with the marketing and merchandising departments, allowing them further insight into the world of retail and possible future career options.
This will all be completed during their June/July holidays, with their final garments being sold in Foschini Canal Walk, Gateway and Eastgate in October this year.
