Lyle & Scott available in South Africa from winter
William Lyle and Walter Scott founded the company in 1874 in the small Scottish town of Hawick. The brand still draws from a 125-year archive, including designs by Christian Dior and Michael Kors. In 1967, a golf range appeared which top players including Gary Player and Greg Norman quickly wore.
2003 saw the rejuvenation of the brand, with the launch of the Vintage collection with the 'Golden Eagle' logo. A host of indie bands and young TV presenters quickly adopted it, which led to the opening of the first stand-alone store in London's Covent Garden in 2005. In 2007, the Heritage Collection was launched and 2009 saw the launch of the Club Collection aimed at young and trendy golfers.
Skye Distribution's MD, Richard Dixon, commented, "With this brand, the company is again able to offer a discernible and fashion-conscious South African market the chance to wear a top international brand renowned for its heritage, style and quality."
