New developments for Bothasig Mall

After over 30 years of trading, Bothasig Mall will be receiving a facelift, with construction having already started on the new 1,000m² Build it hardware store planned for the vacant land situated between the current centre and KFC drive-thru.

"[W]e understand the ageing process and that shopping centres need to be upgraded to keep abreast with modern standards. With this in mind, plans have been passed at the City of Cape Town, new leases have been signed and construction on an improved centre has begun," said Darren Epstein, Managing Director of Blend Property Management, owners of Bothasig Mall since 2010.

The development also includes the relocation and upgrade of various tenancies including Bothasig Pharmacy which took place in July, Jackies Chinese Restaurant - a well-established eatery which relocated from Panorama - and long-standing Bothasig Mall resident, Spice For Life. Barksole is under new management, and will be relocating to a fresh new store at the entrance to Shoprite. Most of these changes should be completed before the end of the year, with Build it aiming at an April 2015 launch.

"Extensive research and planning has been put into these various projects and upgrades, which are valued in excess of R10 million. We believe it will rejuvenate Bothasig Mall thereby offering retailers and shoppers a centre that will satisfy all their needs and expectations, while retaining its community focus," Epstein concluded.

Bothasig Mall is conveniently situated on the corner of Vryburger Avenue and Tafelberg Street, Bothasig. Shops are open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm; Saturday, 9am to 5pm; Sunday and public holidays, 9am to 3pm.
