Wayne Brady's instant improvisation
There isn't much to say for the venue or any of the other things that made up the experience, because once Wayne steps on stage that's all that matters. But not only was he Wayne Brady, oh no, he was Tina Turner, Elvis, Creed, all 5 members of NSYNC and Prince. He danced, sang, acted and improvised. By himself, with the audience, or with his partner Jonathan. Everything in the performance is improvised and entirely made up on the spot, which means I could go and watch it again tomorrow (which I may just do) and it would be a completely different show. From sanitary towels to accountancy, he can use it all.
Boerewors and vuvuzelas
I must also say that I admire his courage in tackling the Afrikaans, especially when boerewors is spelt buravorce and he still can grasp what it is. When he could put vuvuzela into a song and knew exactly what it was and what noise it made - he had me sold. The best part of all, though, was even though you had no idea of what was coming next; you knew that Wayne had no idea either. A must see for anyone who enjoys the unexpected and if you get the chance to get up on stage take it. Do not pass up the opportunity to be on stage with such a naturally talented man.
Catch Wayne Brady "Making it up" tonight 20 May at the Grand Arena, Grand West Casino, Cape Town at 8pm
and on Saturday, 22 May at the Durban International Convention Centre at 8pm.
