New Comair flights from OR Tambo to Mpumalanga

Comair, the operator of British Airways in South Africa has partnered with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency to include Mpumalanga, targeting both business and leisure travellers from OR Tambo.

Comair is now flying six flights a week, Monday to Saturday between Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport and OR Tambo International. The 40-minute flight will depart at 10.10am from OR Tambo and the return flight will leave at 12-noon from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. The short flight, operated by a Boeing 737-300, will allow the international inbound market to connect.

"This partnership between Comair and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency will deliver much-needed competition and additional capacity on the route between Mpumalanga and Gauteng," CEO of MPTA, Charles Ndabeni said at a media briefing after the inaugural flight at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport. "Both business and leisure travellers are expected to benefit from the new scheduled service."

Easy access

Comair joint chief executive Gideon Novick said: "We are very excited that our partnership with the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency has resulted in this opportunity to bring more international and local travellers to the region. Comair's increased capacity will allow travellers easy access to Mpumalanga, whilst at the same time raising the profile of the province that has so many beautiful experiences to offer."

Under the British Airways livery, Comair currently offers flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Harare, Livingstone, Victoria Falls, Windhoek, Mauritius, as well as between Cape Town and Durban.
