Fly with the German football team on Lufthansa

Lufthansa, official partner of the German Football Association will set up a special flight for the German team to next summer's World Cup in South Africa. Around 150 fans will have the chance of flying with the team to Johannesburg and enjoying a round of exclusive highlights.

They will be at the scene when the team is given a send-off at the gate, they can chat at a talk session with the players and officials and attend a press conference with the German Football Association (DFB) and two of the players shortly before take-off at Frankfurt Airport. Fans on the flight will also be presented with an exclusive Lufthansa World Cup fan package full of items supporters need to cheer the team on.

The date for the special flight will be fixed once the draw to determine the groups for the 2010 World Cup has taken place in Cape Town on 4 December 2009. But note: The World Cup team-flight newsletter is already available at www.lufthansa.com/fanflug. Those, who register for it now, will be informed first when the DFB and Lufthansa decide on the actual flight date. They can then put in a firm application for one to four tickets. There will be three application phases similar to the procedure for ticket sales for the World Cup games. The lucky winners will be drawn at the end of each application phase and then automatically receive tickets for the flight to the World Cup together with the German team.

Additionally, there is another chance of obtaining one or several seats on the special flight: From today, in fact, on Facebook, which offers fans of the “Lufthansa Fanflug” a page packed with information about sporting activities at Lufthansa and the promise to be the first to get the news of the exact date of the DFB flight to Johannesburg once it is announced. Furthermore, Lufthansa is running a competition on Facebook for a fan reporter. Awaiting the lucky winner is a bumper package full of highlights: A seat on the World Cup team flight, on-site hotel accommodation and a ticket for the German team's first group game. The fan reporter will file daily reports on Facebook, complete with photos, videos and updates.
