Earlier this month Liberty Life Wanderers and 94.7 Highveld Stereo launched the 94 700 ALL IN campaign, which challenges cricket fans to become a part of South African Test cricket history by setting the record for the highest attendance at a Test match.
The current record of 91 251 spectators was set in 1995, when South Africa played England at the Wanderers.
As at 16h00 on Wednesday 25 February, a total of 90 484 tickets of a possible 156 000 tickets for the five days have been sold.
Gauteng Cricket Board's CEO Alan Kourie commented: “We owe it to the Proteas to ensure a capacity crowd and the powerful motivational support that this provides.
“The public's response to our 94 700 ALL IN appeal has been phenomenal and we thank them for their ongoing support of the Proteas and Liberty Life Wanderers.
“The pre-match sales for the upcoming Castle Test have exceeded expectations and are the highest ever experienced for a Test match at this stadium. However, sales do not always translate into attendance and we encourage all cricket fans to get down to Liberty Life Wanderers and be a part of history in the making.”
Daily ticket prices range from R30 to R54 for Adults, and R24 for Scholars and Students. Tickets will be on sale at the main gate during the match.
Fans who go 94 700 ALL IN stand a chance of winning great prizes in the lucky ticket draws taking place after every 10 000 escalation in attendance, with the grand draw taking place when the target of 94 700 is reached. The grand prize includes a R19 470 Hirsch's Homestore voucher, a framed autographed Proteas shirt and 9 x cases of Castle Lager.
There is also a wide range of entertainment, competitions and giveaways taking place each day, catering for the interests of all spectators. An “ALL IN” shuttle service will also assist in transporting fans from the surrounding parking areas.
