The Santa Shoebox Project gets free campaign
Managing director, Tracy Jones, says, “Having been a huge supporter of The Santa Shoebox Project with my two children for years, I pitched the idea to my team of taking it on as our ‘Passion Project’ – and they wholeheartedly agreed that this was a meaningful campaign we all wanted to support, in order to give back both professionally and personally.”
This year the campaign theme is ‘More Than Just a Shoebox’. It will focus on how the donation of a Santa Shoebox not only gifts the recipient child with a personalised shoebox, filled with daily necessities, but also instils a sense of self-worth and presents the child with the promise of a better education, improved hygiene and dental health and those simple things that every child should enjoy, sweets and a toy.
Since the project began it has distributed 551,979 personalised shoeboxes to children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds across South Africa and Namibia. More than 50% of those shoeboxes reached children in far-flung rural areas.
The Santa Shoebox Project has become a household name in South Africa over the last decade and this year Positive Dialogue Communications aims to ensure that every one of the 100,000 pledges received results in a special Christmas gift received by a child in need.
