The international jury of experts, from 14 countries, has chosen this year's finalists, selected from over 2300 submissions and has announced the shortlist of nominees on the website. Until 2 May 2016, Internet users have the opportunity to participate in an online vote.
Women's rights, migration and discrimination against minorities are among this year's main topics. The range of subjects is as broad as in previous years and reflects current news trends. The 126 finalists are competing in the following categories:
• Tech for Good

At a press conference on 2 May, the jury will announce the main prize winners in the categories. They will be honoured at the Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum (GMF) in Bonn, Germany, on 14 June. Deutsche Welle is also awarding the Freedom of Speech Award.
