Take Time Out in the Mother City

The third issue of the annual Time Out Cape Town for Visitors guide, coveted as much by locals as by tourists, is now on sale at bookstores and traditional outlets, such as airport departure centres, as well as selected hotels, delis, wine shops and tourism offices for R39.95.

Published locally by New Media in glossy A4 magazine format, the 144-page guide, also known as the international "travellers' bible", increased its annual circulation by 27.5% with the 2005 issue posting an audited sales figure of 19 849 during this period (July 2004 - June 2005). "This bodes well for the 2006 issue where we expect to sell even more copies through additional distribution outlets in and around the tourist areas," says publisher Maria Tiganis.

With specialist sections on sightseeing, shopping, dining, clubs, comedy, theatre, art, entertainment, sport and fun for the children, Editor Sam Woulidge says the guide is the essential companion for any traveller to Cape Town. It provides readers with reliable, encyclopaedic and incisive advice on where to spend their free time in the Mother City and surrounds.

"Over and above insider information such as which beach is best for babes, surf or scenery, or where to find the late night bars, biking trails and much, much more, the guide also gives readers additional tit-bits of Cape-flavoured information," says Woulidge. "There's the 'the global shoppers' only-in-Cape-Town-style wish list; a guide to the city's favourite markets; where to get bargain blooms and why a three-meter-tall African totem at the lower end of St George's Mall has bright yellow Bart Simpson heads plastered all over it."

To further enhance the Cape experience, attractions further afield are an added bonus with information on the wine routes, whale watching and the West Coast as well as Route 62 and the Garden Route. "Need to know your Pinot Noir from your plonk? Exhausted Gautengers can wander in some lesser-known vineyards along the Hermanus Wine Wander or the Klein Karoo Wine Route," says Woulidge.

According to Woulidge, it's all you need to know about Cape Town. Tips to help you get from A to B, accommodation suggestions and emergency services complete the guide, making it an essential item in every household and hotel in the region.
