Targeting golfing fitness
It will draw on the expertise of a wide range of health and fitness practitioners who specialise in golf in order to produce a comprehensive guide for all levels of players, with the ultimate aim of helping them improve their game, according to the publication's project editor, Scott Ramsay.
"We've gone to fitness trainers, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dieticians, biokineticists, psychologists, vision specialists and sports scientists - those with the best knowledge out there. We will apply their combined know-how to what is relevant to golfers of different ages and stages."
Explained editor Brandon de Kock: "Because golf is different from other sports, it requires a unique fitness approach. Golfers are on the course for many hours at a time; the modern golf swing places unnatural strain on the spine (because our spines aren't designed to twist excessively); and golfers need to concentrate carefully at intermittent periods during a long day. So golfers need a combination of physical and mental strength, endurance and flexibility that is rarely encountered in other sports.
The majority of the magazine's readers are 35 - 55, LSM 10 businesspeople with senior corporate positions and enormous demands on their time.
