Motoring mag celebrates 30 years

Wiel magazine will be celebrating 30 years in April 2008 with a special anniversary issue. It is expected that all former editors of the magazine will contribute to the issue by looking back at the highlights of the last three decades and reflecting on their memories with the title.

Wiel magazine remains one of the oldest, and now the only, Afrikaans motoring magazine in the country. Over the years it has managed to maintain and develop a devoted following of Afrikaans readers and motor sport enthusiasts.

“To celebrate this significant achievement, the editorial team is putting together [the most] outstanding issue ever delivered, looking at the 30 best cars and 30 best diesel vehicles and pictures of the best photos of the three decades, including milestones from different manufacturers,” says Andrew Stodel, marketing and services manager for Wiel.

“Our birthday issue is a wonderful opportunity for advertiser to reach a unique audience of high nett worth consumers who research shows prefer to read about motoring in their own language.”

"According to the latest AMPS figures, Wiel delivers a highly desirable audience of mature readers, 65% of whom are in the Super A income bracket, together with a healthy number – 35% – of young enthusiasts in the 16 – 34 age group," explains Stodel.

"With Afrikaans being the third most spoken language in South Africa after Zulu and Xhosa, this special edition of the magazine is a fantastic opportunity to reach this sought-after market," he concludes.
