Sarie now in handbag size

The first South African title to publish in two sizes, Sarie has launched a handbag-size option from October 2006 in a move to stand out from the competition and entice a younger audience. The smaller Sarie will be available on newsstands in major metropolitan areas and there will be no adjustment to the 2006 advertising and insert rates.

"With the influx of so many new women's titles, one has to be aware of the 'sameness' of female magazines and guard against becoming stale. This refreshing approach and dynamic move will set us apart from competitors. Furthermore, the launch of the new handbag-size Sarie will entice a younger audience, all modern women who know what they want," says Michélle van Breda, Sarie's award-winning editor.

According to Van Breda, Sarie's award-winning editor, the magazine has always been consistent in targeting contemporary Afrikaans-speaking women with inspirational content relevant to their colourful lifestyles and modern-thinking life philosophy.

"We understand that Sarie's content appeals to all kinds of women and having two sizes gives our readers more versatility and choice. The handbag-size is perfect for women whose lives are get-up-and-go and who require brands that understand this. The full-size Sarie is more of a luxury, something to savour when time is abundant," explains Sarie Editor Michélle van Breda.

According to publisher MarĂ Lategan, the cover price and deadlines will remain the same and advertisers need not submit new material for run of paper ads, as Media24 Magazines has the technology to rescale current material automatically. "Only full-page bound-in inserts will need to be submitted in the handbag size," she concludes.
