Super Group's Peter Mountford wins entrepreneurs award

Super Group CEO Peter Mountford won the EY entrepreneur of the year award at a gala function in Sandton this week. He was chosen for his entrepreneurial spirit, the logistics and fleet management company's financial performance, his ability to provide strategic direction and innovation, and his integrity and influence.

"I am honoured to have been presented with this prestigious and coveted award given the caliber of candidates nominated this year. I am looking forward to representing SA at the EY International Entrepreneur Award 2017 in Monaco next year," Mountford said on Wednesday.

Mountford is a chartered accountant with an MBA from Warwick University in the UK. He has been MD of SAB Diversified Beverages, which included SAB's supply chain services and logistics interests.

He was also MD of Super Group's logistics and transport division until June 2002, after which he joined Imperial Holdings, where he was CEO of the consumer logistics division for six years.

Mountford was appointed CEO of Super Group in July 2009. He is also a director of the Road Freight Association, which mainly represents road freight service providers.

Since his appointment as CEO, Super Group's market capitalisation has rocketed from R349m to about R14.5bn, a rise of more than 4,000%.
