Harrison re-signs for Dawn Wing

Dawn Wing, the South African courier and logistics company, has signed up mountain biker Ann Harrison for the fourth consecutive year.
Harrison re-signs for Dawn Wing

Harrison has already taken a few scalps on her 2013 run of events beginning on 5 January in George where she claimed second place in the Rock Pedal Classic event, a 100km race that takes competitors up the famous Montague Pass and into the Klein Karoo where they circle back over a technical mountain range and back into George for the finish.

On 27 January, she competed in a 50km race held in Paarl, which had competitors venturing into the nature reserve to tackle some tricky inclines and rocky terrain that takes them around Paarl Rock. Harrison managed to secure another second-place finish behind Jenny Stenerhag, the Swedish road champion and South African road league champion. Trailing in third behind Ann was Hanlie Boyens, the two-time podium finisher of the ABSA Cape Epic, after Boyens ran into difficulty having to tend to a puncture, which set her back in the race.

Just recently over the past few weekends, Harrison has claimed first place in the Western Province XC Champs, third in the Veteran division of the ladies in the Ride the Rock event, and second place in the Tankwa Trek in the ladies solo. She is also proud to have just secured a sponsorship with Momsen Bikes, which is supporting her endeavours.

Heart set on the ABSA Cape Epic

Harrison, in her fourth year of flying the Dawn Wing flag, has her heart is set on the ABSA Cape Epic being held in March this year. In the events 10-year anniversary, it has evolved from a simple dream thought up on a beach in Costa Rica into the biggest mountain bike stage race in the world, grabbing the attention of millions of viewers across the globe and showcasing the top international riders from 82 countries.

"Dawn Wing is a wonderful sponsor. It has been very loyal to me and it's been a privilege to be able to fly the Dawn Wing flag at such an incredible event like the ABSA Cape Epic. Having Dawn Wings backing and its believing in me keeps me focused on my training, giving me a great platform to create more brand awareness for Dawn Wing. People are so used to seeing me in the yellow of Dawn Wing and each year helps strengthen the brand," Harrison said.

Aside from focusing on the ABSA Cape Epic in March, another race she has her sight set on is the Bridge Cape Pioneer Trek in October which is a seven-day stage race through the Karoo.
