Amazon Web Services ready to expand to Cape Town
Amazon Web Services LLC (AWS), an Amazon.com company, announced recently the launch of a new AWS Developer Support office in Cape Town, South Africa.
AWS Developer Support provides technical assistance for customers around the world as they build applications on top of AWS services such as AmazonSimple Storage Service (Amazon S3), Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon CloudFront.
"Amazon has had a software development centre in Cape Town for a number of years, and we're delighted to bring new technical jobs to the region with the launch of the AWS developer support office," said Brent Jaye, director of AWS developer support and customer service. "Cape Town has proven to be a great location for finding the top talent we need to support the continued growth of our business."
The AWS developer support team is expected to be in operation by mid-2012.
