Vesta ceases production of sanitary ware

The Ampaglas Plastics Group has announced that it will cease production of the Vesta sanitary ware product range from its factory in East London due to the current economic climate. Vesta has long been a manufacturer of acrylic-capped ABS sanitary ware, including contractor and luxury bathtubs, corner baths, shower trays and basins.

In an attempt to ensure that existing customers are not prejudiced by this decision, Ampaglas has handed over the moulds utilised to manufacture the relevant acrylic baths, to the Dawn Group. In the event that customers wish to continue to source acrylic baths manufactured utilising these moulds, they are requested to contact Grant Berold at Dawn.

Pressure on profit margins

"It is a well-known fact that the residential and property development markets, which the bath industry is largely dependent on, has slowed down significantly in the current economic climate," says Barry du Toit, CEO of the Ampaglas Group.

"In addition, the over-supply of sanitary ware products put pressure on profit margins and increased competition significantly. As a small player in this market, we opted to cease production and focus on our primary industry, namely high-quality thermoplastic extrusion, rather than competing with larger companies for market share in the sanitary ware industry. We are, however, confident that the expertise and focus that the Dawn Group lends to the existing product range will result in great success for them."
