SAHRC Act effective from 5 October

PRETORIA: President Jacob Zuma has announced that the South African Human Rights Commission Act will come into operation on 5 September.

Zuma assented to the Act in January 2014. The Act aims to, among other things, provide the composition of powers, functions and functioning of the South African Human Rights Commission. It will also provide for the repeal of the Human Rights Commission Act of 1994 as well as provide for matters connected therewith.
