AfriMold exhibition moves to June to beat summer shutdown
After evaluating the 2012 trade fair, extensive strategising and consideration of the industry's feedback and requests, the organisers have announced a change of dates for AfriMold to earlier in the year.
Ron MacLarty, MD and organiser of AfriMold, said: "Moving AfriMold to June every year will increase opportunities for exhibitors to meet customers face to face and allow more time for exhibitors to convert leads into business before the summer shutdown. The new venue, NASREC, is also geared for industrial expos and has the experience and facilities to accommodate AfriMold's particular needs."
Fired up and committed
MacLarty added: "It was clear at AfriMold 2012 that our TDM industry is fired up and committed to doing whatever is necessary not only to stake its claim to the billions of dollars of tooling that is currently being produced overseas and imported into South Africa, but also to attract foreign business to our shores as it becomes more internationally competitive."
The AfriMold trade fair is expected to attract exhibitors and visitors representing the associated sectors of design, materials, simulation, visualisation, engineering, virtual reality, CAE, CAD and CAM, rapid prototyping and tooling, patternmaking and prototyping, precision machining, mould-making and tooling, tools, machine tools, quality assurance and automation, as well as processing and finishing.
The trade fair remains the single most important platform for members of the industry to benchmark and evaluate technologies and services that support the industry, to drive growth and to increase manufacturing competitiveness.
Conference
AfriMold is underpinned by a close association with the Toolmaking Association of South Africa (TASA), which seeks to provide a platform for companies to improve their capabilities in areas of design, tooling and manufactured components for the local Automotive OEMs. The conference brings together all players in the industry across diverse sectors from foundry, plastics and metal forming through the relevant institutes and associations, to respond to market needs collectively and ensure the viability of the SA Manufacturing base.
AfriMold announced its Conference Roadmap to address the needs of the National Association of Automotive Component Manufacturers (NAACAM) via technology transfer from local and international best practice in the highly competitive vehicle market.
The conference will address current challenges, provide a window to the future, and demonstrate all the associated technologies to keep SA relevant to leading edge developments.
AfriMold is inviting industry experts as well as international industry leaders to apply to present papers of specialist and general industry interest.
