    FPI appoints new head of business development

    The Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI) has announced the appointment of Anthony Campher, as the head of business development and membership services effective as of 13 June 2012.

    Campher has been serving the FPI as the head of certification for two and a half years, dealing with matters around developing and upholding FPI's rigorous certification standards. In his new role, Campher will be responsible for building and nurturing strategic relationships with industry stakeholders such as employers, members, and industry bodies. He will also be responsible for ensuring business growth through directing and managing business development activities to ensure these are delivered in accordance with the recently announced new FPI strategy.

    Implementing new strategy

    "I have been very impressed with his performance in his previous capacity and also as part of the executive leadership team," says FPI CEO, Godfrey Nti. "In his new role, we are confident that he will bring to his new role the same levels of dedication, hard work and leadership in in accomplishing the goals set out for this position in our new strategy".

    Campher comments: "I am looking forward to further serving the FPI as we roll out our new strategy and progress on our growth path. This appointment will also ensure that the necessary focus is applied in executing the business development and membership services elements of our growth strategy.

    "Of the approximately 100 000 advisors in the financial services industry, only 5% of these are certified financial planner professionals. To serve the public and help rebuild consumer trust in the industry again, clearly more work needs to be done grow this pool of competent and trustworthy financial planners. We look forward to engaging the various stakeholder communities in a bid to achieve this objective," Campher concludes.
