New forensic unit to help eliminate corruption in NW
This, according to Premier Supra Mahumapelo, will not only help eliminate corruption in the public service but in society in general.
Making the announcement during his State of the Province Address on Friday, Premier Mahumapelo called on all Members of Executive Council to lead by example by demonstrating positive ethical conduct and rejecting corruption.
He committed that the province will publish and make available on a quarterly basis all public sections of declarations made by MECs.
This, he said, will also apply to senior managers of government who are required by legislation to declare their financial interests.
"We have asked that all forensic investigation reports commissioned by the provincial government in the past to be made available to the Office of the Premier for processing and disclosure through the legislature subject to necessary legal processes, in relation to any party/person implicated, or investigated by government," Premier Mahumapelo said.
The premier reiterated the announcement made by President Jacob Zuma in his State of the Nation Address that no public servant should be doing business with government.
He further appealed to members of the community to assist in the fight against fraud and corruption by working hand in glove with government.
