Last call for Jet Community Award nominations
The annual Jet Community Awards competition closes for entries on Monday 31 May 2010.
The awards offer R1 million in prize money annually to support and reward Southern Africa's champions of community upliftment. This year's winners will each receive R75 000 in cash including R1000 in Jet shopping vouchers, while the finalists will each received R15 000 in cash.
Categories
The Awards recognise outstanding community projects and non-profit organisations involved in the four main categories of "We Care."
- Organisations / individuals who focus on people with disabilities, specifically in terms of care, support and empowerment, as well as initiatives that deal with people with disabilities;
- Organisations / individuals who focus on abused women and orphaned and vulnerable children specifically affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic;
- Vukuzenzele which recognises entrepreneurs and development centres that help create jobs and stimulate economic development within three separate categories - namely awarding black (African, Coloured, Asian) women in business, youths in business (aged 18 - 35) and small businesses in rural areas;
- Environmental Waste Management which recognises organisations / individuals that focus on reducing or eliminating waste production as far as possible so that there is less impact on the environment.
