2010 Green Building Conference in April

Hosted in association with South Africa's industry professional institutes, the Green Building Conference and Expo 2010 will again attract the leading decision making members of these organisations who are committed to learning about and embracing green building techniques. To be held at Gallagher Convention Centre Midrand on 29-30 April 2010, the exhibition hopes to attract more than the 1000 delegates and 100 exhibition stands featured at the 2009 expo.

Speakers, content

So far, the following speakers have been confirmed:

  • Dr Ken Yeang, one of the world's leading architects in ecological and passive low energy design. He has won numerous awards and written three books and is best known for his innovative design of the high rise building as a vertical urban design and for his invention of the bioclimatic skyscraper;
  • Christoph Ingenhoven is a German architect and designer. He has been involved in many competitions as a jury member, expert consultant and judge and has held lectures in many cities around the world. He designed the award winning Lufthansa Aviation Centre in Frankfurt, which set a new standard in modern ecological building technology and philosophy;
  • Dr Dirk Funhoff;
  • Ryan Gravel;
  • Michelle Garforth-Venter.

In keeping with the changing green building requirements of design and construction professionals in South Africa, the conference will deliver four types of content for delegates:

  • Inspirational international presentations from architects and designers;
  • Locally relevant plenary content from South Africa's thought leaders;
  • Practical, locally applicable, case studies;
  • Current and new products, technologies and services available in 2010 in South Africa.

Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits will be available at the 2010 conference and new barcode technology will streamline the CPD process. New format workshop breakout sessions will complement the plenary sessions and each breakout session will be aligned with the newly launched eco-building learning modules, which are also now accredited for Category 1 CPD for all architectural professionals by SACAP. The modules also form part of the 10-Module Diploma linked course offered by alive2green.
